MUSE Virtual is dedicated to ensuring that each student learns in a unique way. We believe in a student-centered approach that acknowledges each student’s unique talents, interests, and environmental preferences within their learning journey. An individualized learning plan begins during the admissions process where the MUSE Virtual Director and teachers meet with the family and student to assess academic successes and challenges.
Once admitted, MUSE Virtual teachers then use a learning profile that measures a student’s approach to learning and identifies opportunities for growth. Identifying a student’s learning style is even more important in an online learning environment. This helps to inform the choice of curriculum, mode of curriculum delivery and provides valuable information to our teachers and staff regarding instructional preferences. Understanding individual learning styles allows us to take a holistic approach, based on each child’s unique pace of development and strengths.
Based on the belief that each style of learning is valid, unique, and important, our learning style model includes auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners but expands to consider how children think, what motivates them to learn, their interests, talents, and even the environment in which they learn best.
MUSE Virtual utilizes many forms of grade level assessments to provide teachers with baseline data of their students’ understanding in each discipline. Each student is assessed through a number of evaluative measures that give an accurate picture of student progress.
This unique system of evaluation benefits the students as it provides a well-rounded scope of progress and will also show various elements of ways to grow. Parents are able to learn more about how their child is thriving in their learning environment and if there is any room for improvement.
