THE PASSION PROJECT

Passion Projects are the central component of our 5 pillar learning system — passion-based learning. By teaching through students’ interests, it’s proven they are more engaged and they even look forward to learning. Our teachers are committed to bringing out the best in each student and part of this is through their passions.

The purpose of these passion projects is to encourage students to identify something specifically interesting so they can then spend time learning about over the semester; provide an opportunity for students to see how math, science, language arts, history, and other academic subjects exist in all areas; make connections between their grade-level standards, the real world, and their passions; and connect with multiple individuals to help deepen their understanding of their given passion.

How it Works:
Each semester at MUSE Virtual, students are given an opportunity to choose one passion to explore, which is shared with their class and community at an end-of-semester virtual culmination.

The purpose of these passion projects is to encourage students to identify something specifically interesting so they can then spend time learning about over the semester. This provides an opportunity for students to see how math, science, language arts, history, and other academic subjects exist in all areas.

Their passions make connections between their grade-level standards, the real world, and their passions; and connect with multiple individuals to help deepen their understanding of their given passion.

By allowing students to explore their own passions, learning becomes an exciting investment in themselves and their specific interests, encouraging engagement with the core curriculum.

How Parents Can Get Involved:
We want every student to have a real world experience by connecting with experts in their area of passion and interest. These experts can be parents, local and small business entrepreneurs, as well leaders in domestic and global organizations. Administration and teachers may email you if a student at MUSE Virtual may benefit from meeting you or someone at your company, organization or networking circle to deepen and enrich their area of study. These experiences provide students incredible opportunities which can lead to deeper learning, interviews, mentorships, and even internships.

If you want to join us in our efforts to pursue passions fearlessly, please email your student’s teacher or info@musevirtualschool.com, to connect you to our students this year.
